Description:

​

Two day expedition that starts on day one in the town of llanos del Pinal, Quetzaltenango, 1 hour hiking up to La Meseta, another hour taking the route to the look out, and the hardest part is a 6-hour hiking down to the Santiaguito Crater. Total 8 hours of hard core hiking. It is possible to observe eruptions on the active cone from the camping spot. Santiaguito is constantly erupting rocks and throwing ash and smoke. Another 8 hours hiking of return, getting back to Xela around 5:00pm.
